Facts of Life - the changing face of childhood

Barnardos' summary of the publication

"Explodes the myth that life for previous generations of children
was harder than todays"
The Independent

Has childhood changed over the 20 years?
Is Britain a better place for children, or has growing up become
tougher

Based on a MORI poll of over 1000 adults , The Facts of Life
reports that more than three in five adults think that childhood is
today worse than when they were children. Looking to the future
, three in five adults think that the world that today's children will
inherit will be worse than the world inherited by children of their
generation.

The poll carried out in April 1995 based a cross-section of people
about a range of issues affecting children;

School and education
Jobs and careers
Violence and crime
The family
Diet and health
Financial future

The Facts of Life also has an overview by David Utting of how
society has changed for children and families over the past 20
years.
