Children Speak Newsletter, Vol 5, No. 18, June -July 2006

This issue speaks about the role of family in the growth and development of children. Maitry’s interview with Medhavani Joshi from the Vatsalya Trust, an adoption agency in Mumbai, evaluates the life of children who grow up in institutions devoid of familial support. The importance of family in the well-being of children, and the effects of rifts and discords among family members, is brought out vividly in the article by Abraham Yehuda. Through this issue, we have also brought into light the dedicated efforts of Dr. Abhay Bang in bringing down infant mortality in remote parts of India and Africa.
