Building a Europe for and with Children - Children and Young People's Report

Summary: The programme “Building a Europe for and with Children” of the Council of Europe aims to promote the rights of the child and to protect children from all forms of violence. It was decided upon by the 3rd Council of Europe Summit of Heads of States and Governments held in Warsaw, Poland, in May 2005.

The programme aims to assist decision-makers and other stakeholders in the governmental and non-governmental sectors to develop and implement policies and concrete measures in favour of the promotion of children’s rights and in particular their right to be protected from all forms of violence.

The Launching Conference of this programme was held in April in Monaco, following an invitation of the Monegasque authorities. The two days conference welcomed 17 children and young people in order to reinforce another objective of the programme: the active participation of children and young people in matters of their concern in order to develop sustainable measures in their favour.
