TIME TO CELEBRATE - The new Optional Protocol to the CRC on a complaints procedure is officially adopted by the UN.

Summary: 19 December 2011: The UN General Assembly took a landmark step for children's rights as it adopted the new Optional Protocol and finalised the adoption process of this new treaty at the UN level.

An official signing ceremony will be held in 2012 where States will be able to sign and ratify the new Protocol. The new Protocol needs to be ratified by ten States before it can enter into force and be used.
