Side event on integrating the rights of the child in the UPR process

Summary: On 12 March 2009, the Working Group on the HRC of the NGO Group organised a side event on Integrating the rights of the child in the UPR process. The event was attended by UPR-info.org, OHCHR, Permanent Mission of Italy, the Secretariat of the CRC and the members of the Working Group. The UPR represents a further opportunity for making children’s rights central to the work of the HRC. The NGO Group believes that the UPR should be used as a complementary advocacy tool to promote the rights of the child its implementation at the national level.
