School Day: South Africa

What is life like for South Africa's learning generation?

Today hundreds of British schools are being given the chance to share the school day with a school in Soweto, South Africa.

The BBC will be meeting the teachers and pupils, visiting the classrooms, and finding out everything there is to know about the school day in South Africa.

The 30th anniversary of the Soweto uprising in South Africa is on 16 June: the day school pupils took to the streets of a township on the outskirts of Johannesburg, to protest against the standards of their education.

Plus, the BBC will be finding out how that defining day in South Africa's history has affected the lives of those at school today.

Watch School Day: South Africa throughout the day on BBC News 24 until 1550BST.

Each time BBC News 24 visits the schools, it is streamed live at www.bbcnews.com/schoolday.
