OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES: IOF kill 8 Palestinians, including 3 children, and Injure 19 others (30 October 2005)

Summary: The IOF continued their offensive against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, killing 7 persons, 3 of whom were children, and injuring 19 others. They also created a state of fear and tense among civilians, particularly children and women as a result to continued launch of sonic booms. In addition, they continue to close the Gaza strip and deny access of basic goods.

 

The IOF continued their offensive against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, killing 7 persons, 3 of whom were children, and injuring 19 others. They also created a state of fear and tense among civilians, particularly children and women as a result to continued launch of sonic booms. In addition, they continue to close the Gaza strip and deny access of basic goods.

On October 27th, at approximately 7:45 pm, an Israeli helicopter fired a missile at a Subaru car in al Alami Street, in the northern entrance of Jabalia Refugee Camp, a very populated area.  7 Palestinians were killed including three children under the age of 18, and 19 others were injured, 5 of whom were women who sustained serious injuries. The killed included:

 

Shadi Suheil Sakeb Mohana, aged 25;
Mohammad Ahmad Qandil, aged 47;
Mohammad Rmeih al Wheidy, aged 55;
Fayez Hassan Badran, aged 52;
Rami Riyad Assaf, aged 17;
Karam Mohammad Mohammad Abu Naji, aged 14,
Saleh Said Mohammad aged 15.
 
In addition, on October 28th, at approximately 5:15 PM, an Israeli helicopter fired a missile at a Subaru car, near the Faculty of Agriculture, in the north of Beit Hanoun town, killing Majed Ebrahim Natat, 27, and injuring another. Natat was claimed to launch locally made rockets at Israeli territories.
Further, Israeli F16 airplanes fired 33 rockets near residential areas in the north of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in sever damages to nearby houses, cutting off the electricity, and spreading panic among people.
Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights calls upon the international community to immediately intervene and put and end to the ongoing Israeli violations, provide protection to the Palestinians and lift the closure imposed on the Gaza Strip. It also calls upon the international community to implement the articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
