The Civil Society Coalition on MDGs in Kenya held a Consultative Meeting with CSOs on the Millennium+5 Summit on 16th August 2005. The objective of the meeting was to assess the content of the Draft Outcome Document of the UN General Assembly, which will be discussed during the Summit.

During the forum, participants made various recommendations on the Draft Report. Mr. Timothy Ekesa, the Executive Director of KAACR, made a presentation on the key issues given that the document is blind on children.

UN members states will present progress reports on MDGs at the Millennium Summit and Kenya being signatory to the Declaration, is developing a five-year National Status report on MDGs.

A similar event for Eastern and Southern Africa region has taken place at the Hilton Hotel, organised by Actionaid Africa Office. The workshop brought together key governance institutions and players in African Development to concretise the African position on the UN reform agenda. The meeting was held on 18-19 August 2005.
