Two Kenyan children, Quinter Atieno (16) of Lions High School, Kisumu and
Moses Mbithi (13) of Kinyanjui Road Primary School, Nairobi, will represent
Kenyan children at the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Regional
Consultation on Violence Against Children, which is taking place in
Johannesburg from 16th - 20th July 2005.

The Children's Consultation will be held on 16th and 17th, while the adult
forum will take place on 18th - 20th July.

The two children were elected during the National Workshop to Review the
Draft Report on Violence Against Children in Kenya held in early June.
During the workshop, children developed a Charter on Violence Against
Children in Kenya which defines violence, forms, causes and effects of
violence on children in Kenya.

The Kenya adult delegation includes three officers from Department of
Children Services, The CRADLE and two officers from UNICEF KCO.

The regional consultation is a follow-up of national workshops and will lead
to a global forum where the regional reports will be presented.
