JOB VACANCY: Junior Representative (part-time)

The European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) is a not-for-profit association of independent children’s rights institutions. Its mandate is to facilitate the promotion and protection of the rights of children, as formulated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Created in 1997, it gathered now 28 institutions in 23 countries.

Willing to establish its permanent secretariat in Strasbourg, the ENOC is currently recruiting a part-time junior representative.

Main responsibilities

• represent ENOC in technical committees of the Council of Europe (CoE) and provide ENOC views/concerns in the context of CoE standard setting, monitoring and cooperation activities in the field of activities related to children
• develop and maintain a network of partners within the CoE secretariat
• Establish and organise the ENOC office in Strasbourg
• prepare and facilitate the drafting and updating of ENOC documents like statements, training packs, etc.
• keep and register all ENOC records, decisions, position papers, meeting reports, addresses and coordinates etc.
• inform and monitor the participation of ENOC in international meetings and projects aiming at the protection and promotion of children’s rights
• manage and update the ENOC website, in collaboration with CRIN, assure the availability of information about ENOC and its members.
• follow up Children’s Rights information through newsletters of international organisations and relevant forums.
• gather all member applications and prepare the Bureau’s decision of new membership

Personal specification

• Advanced university degree in human sciences (law, political sciences, etc) related to children
• Full proficiency in written and oral English and French, a knowledge of Spanish and/or Russian will be considered as an asset
• Strong interest for children issues and/or knowledge of the European human rights challenges
• Capacity to work alone or in a small team
• Communication and diplomatic skills

The successful candidate should be offered at first a consultant contract of 5.000 € per year. The consultant contract could be later transformed into a full time employee contract.
