INDIGENOUS AND MINORITY GROUPS: UN publishes latest newsletter

Summary: The Indigenous Peoples and Minorities Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has published its latest newsletter.

The newsletter includes:

  • A summary of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous People's interactive dialogue during the 18th session of the Human Rights Council.
  • A report from the Bolivia Consultation with 15 National Human Rights Institutions in Latin America on ways to advance indigenous peoples rights into their work.
  • Reports on:
    - Access to justice for Dalits in Nepal
    - The implementation of Indigenous law in Congo
  • News from the 4th session of the Forum on minority issues focusing on the topic: "Guaranteeing the rights of minority women"
  • News from the Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous people and the Independent Expert on minority issues.
  • The inclusion of indigenous and minority issues in UN mechanisms (treaty bodies, UPR, etc.)
