The forthcoming report of the Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Ms. Magdalena Sepulveda Carmona, to the 20th session of the Human Rights Council will take stock of the role and impact of the mandate since her appointment in 2008, as well as the progress made and the challenges remaining in the countries she has visited so far: Ecuador (November 2008), Zambia (August 2009), Bangladesh (December 2009), Viet Nam (August 2010) and Ireland (January 2011).

To this end, the Special Rapporteur is contacting each concerned Government as well as national human rights institutions, civil society organizations and other relevant stakeholders, to assess if the recommendations made in the country reports were useful and applicable, to what extent they were taken into account and implemented and to see how it is possible to make further progress.

The Special Rapporteur will be most grateful to receive any updated information (since the completion of the country missions) related to poverty and human rights issues in the above mentioned countries.
