ENOC publishes a study on NHRIs/ICRIs and Child/Juvenile Delinquency

An ENOC study on the role of NHRIs/ICRIs in the protection of the rights of children in the juvenile justice system has been commissioned to an independent expert advisor, Ms. Nevena Vuckovic Sahovic (former member of the CRC). The survey has been developed through an extensive questionnaire covering a range of issues such as existing legal frameworks in the different juvenile justice systems, the role of NHRIs in the implementation of measures aiming to protect the rights of juvenile delinquents, the specific role of NHRIs in monitoring and evaluation of prevention and intervention measures, etc.

22 ENOC member institutions participated in the survey the preliminary results of which have been presented on the occasion of the ENOC Annual Conference in October 2012 in Nicosia, Cyprus. The survey also resulted in a position statement on 'The rights of children in conflict with the law', adopted by ENOC at its 16th General Assembly.
