ENOC at the European Conference in Ankara on stepping up progress in combating violence against children

European Conference on "Stepping up progress in combating violence against children"

27-28 November 2012, Ankara Turkey

How to effectively implement integrated national strategies against violence and strengthen child protection systems? How to improve accountability and responsiveness when safeguarding children’s rights and eliminating violence? These questions have been considered at a European conference on 27 and 28 November in Ankara organised by the Government of Turkey, the Council of Europe and UNICEF.

The conference brought together high-level local and national officials, ombudspersons, as well as professional networks, civil society and researchers to share practice, develop concrete initiatives and outline priorities for future work in the region, in the light of the outcome of the UN Global Progress Study on Violence against children.

ENOC has been represented by Ms. Tamara Luksic-Orlandic (ENOC Treasurer), who made a presentation on “Supporting children and families through positive parenting” and by Mr. Bernard De Vos (ENOC Chair elect), panelist in a Conference session related to reporting, complaint and referral systems and the enhancement of inter-sectorial collaboration on violence against children.
