DISABILITY: Three more countries ratify rights Convention

[3 December 2007] - Two countries - Spain and South Africa - took the opportunity of the International Day of Disabled Persons 2007, which is celebrated today, to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which was adopted by the UN General Assembly late in 2006. Bangladesh meanwhile ratified the Convention on 30 November, taking the total number of ratifications up to 10. The number of ratifications required for the Convention to come into force is 20.
