UN: World Human Rights Moot Court Competition

Summary: The World Human Rights Moot Court Competition will take place in Pretoria from 8-9 December 2010. The event is taking place for the second year running, following the success of last year's competition where ten teams (two per United Nations region), participated in the final round, presenting arguments on fictional cases.

Presented with the support of the Regional Office for Southern Africa of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (ROSA), all universities in the world are invited to participate in the World Human Rights Moot Court Competition.

The presiding judges in the final round will be eminent jurists and judges from international tribunals and bodies such as the different regional human rights courts and UN human rights treaty bodies.

Registration forms and the heads of argument must be submitted by 15 July, by email to cherryl.botterill@gmail.com. However, motivated requests for moderate extension of time will be considered.
