UN Human Rights Committee (CCPR): Session 103

Summary: The 103rd Session of the Human Rights Committee will take place from 17 October to 4 November 2011. See below details of which States under being examined and the opportunities that exist for child rights advocates.

Opportunities for child rights advocates

In addition to providing information on upcoming reviews by the Committee on the Rights of the Child (and indeed on the subsequent Concluding Observations issued), CRIN encourages children's rights advocates to use the full range of opportunities within the UN and regional human rights mechanisms to pursue children's rights advocacy.

Reporting to treaty bodies beyond the Committee (CRC) presents an opportunity for advocates to raise and press home children's rights issues.

States under review

The following States will be examined on the progress they have made in implementing the provisions of the Internatonal Convenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR):

  • Jamaica
  • Kuwait
  • Norway
  • Iran
  • Côte d'Ivoire (in the absence of a report)

Deadline for submitting reports

NGOs can submit reports to the Human Rights Committee. The reports must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the start of the session.

    • Task forces (for the adoption of list of issues):

    - Armenia, Lithuania, Kenya, Cape Verde (in the absence of a report)

    • Task forces (for the adoption of list of issues prior to reporting):

    - Uruguay, Cameroon, Monaco, Denmark, Moldova
