Training on "Making Governance Gender Responsive",

Summary: The course is designed for middle and senior
level government executives and civil society.

The course is designed for middle and senior level government executives,
women and men in local governments, political parties, research and
training institutes and civil society organizations who are leading or
participating in governance reform initiatives in their respective countries.
Specifically, it intends to help participants to:

* Gain theoretical and practical understanding and appreciation of Gender
and Development (GAD) and governance concepts, as well as their inter-
relationship;

* Gain appreciation of gender-related and governance issues and
concerns;

* Identifying gender biases in governance

* Acquire skils in identifying and analyzing gender biases and concerns
through case examples of strategies and practices to address gender
biases;

* Identifying gender biases in the participants' sphere of influence; and

* Formulate a doable action plan--both institutional and individual.

The course is composed of three (3) modules developed to enhance
participants' understanding of the link between gender and governance as
well as increase their awareness of gender biases in governance. The
training is being offered and designed for a small group of about 25 to 30
participants.

The first, second and third batches of MGGR trainings were successfully
held last February, June and October 2004 at the newly-built CAPWIP
Institute for Gender, Governance and Leadership (CIGGL) located at
Hostelling International Manila, 4229 Tomas Claudio Street, Baclaran,
Parañaque City, Philippines. These trainings were attended by participants
from different countries in Asia and the Pacific.

The training course at present was revised and redesigned based on the
feed backs from the previous trainings. The course has been expanded to
a six-day course (originally designed for three days), and the course is now
heavier on case studies and field trips.

The registration fee for the six-day training is US$775 based on twin
sharing accommodations and US$600 for triple sharing accommodation.

Let us join hands in promoting gender responsive governance through
transformative leadership and citizenship in the Asia-Pacific region. We are
looking forward to your participation.
