The Protection of Children in European Justice Systems

Summary: In line with its adopted Strategy “Building a Europe for and with children”, the Council of Europe is continuing its action to promote children’s rights and to protect children from harm.

A high-level conference on the Protection of Children in European Justice Systems will be organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice of Spain, in Toledo on 12-13 March 2009.

Three workshops will be held, focusing on combating violence against children through a more efficient legal framework, the role of the private sector in the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse of children, and the development of a child friendly justice system.
