Participation: 'Engaging Children - 2nd International Conference on Child Friendly City in Asia Pacific

The conference will be held in Surakarta through the support of the Indonesian governments Ministry for Woman's Empowerment and Child Protection. The focus of the conference will be on engaging children including children as active citizens and working with children to evaluate the quality of their environments. There will be a number of Keynote speakers from around the world currently being confimed including Dr. Judith Ennew from Knowing Children, Malaysia and Roger Hart as well as a number of UNICEF representatives working with UNICEF's International self-assessment project from Brazil, Philipines and Sudan others. In addition to the main program a special two day symposium will be conducted concurrently by the CFC network members from Japan will be held on Children and Risk in Natural Disasters. An executive meeting for CFAP will also be scheduled as well as a meeting on the CFAP accreditation program with many of the key UNICEF offices around the region will be represented.

The conference will be held in Surakarta City in Java, Indonesia and delegates will have the opportunity to meet with local children, engage in hands on research activities with children in the city as well as take field trips around the local area. There will be opportunities for delegates to present papers and a call for abstracts will be sent out shortly through the CFAP networks.
