JUVENILE JUSTICE: Conference on mental health and drug use

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) is calling for papers for its fourth international conference: "Building integrative juvenile justice systems: Approaches and methodologies regarding mental disorders and drugs misuse". The conference will be held in Rome on 9 and 10 November 2010.

The International Conference will focus on two main themes:

I. Mental health and drugs use: Analysis of the situation of children in conflict with the law.

Study of the situation of young people in conflict with the law who have mental health problems or drug-related disorders: the basics of intervention.

The response of juvenile justice systems to offences committed by children and young people suffering from mental health problems.

Children in conflict with the law and the use of drugs: profile of young people in conflict with the law and analysis of resources used for their social reintegration.

II. Juvenile justice and health systems: a necessary multidisciplinary and integrative collaboration.

Mental health problems, drugs use and juvenile justice: ethical considerations and good practices
The relationship between juvenile justice systems and health services: the need to promote specialised resources.
Encouraging policy and regulation: interface between systems.

Working languages of the conference are English, French and Italian. The speaking time for presentations will be 20 minutes.
