Summary: THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR STREET CHILDREN IS CELEBRATED EVERY YEAR ON 12 APRIL.  Over the last two years, the International Day for Street Children has grown in size and impact, thanks to your support! The day is celebrated across the globe by street children, NGOs, individuals, celebrities, politicians, schools and the private sector. We wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the plans for this year and let you know how you can support the day - we’d also love to hear what you have planned! The International Day for Street Children is celebrated every year on April 12th. The day provides a platform for the millions of street children around the world - and their champions - to speak out so that their rights cannot be ignored. The Consortium for Street Children launched International Day for Street Children in 2011. The day has many high profile supporters including Steven Gerrard, Danny Boyle, John Major and Bianca Jagger. The theme of the day this year is Home Street Home – highlighting that for many children across the world, including in the UK, the street is their home. Visit the International Day for Street Children website for more information and our key messages. The Consortium for Street Children launched the International Day for Street Children three years ago. We want the United Nations to adopt it. When the United Nations adopts a day it gives the issue greater global exposure, permanency and increases pressure on governments to act. This year we are asking supporters to sign our petition to Demand a Day.    Â
THE DAY PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR THE MILLIONS OF STREET CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD - AND THEIR CHAMPIONS - TO SPEAK OUT SO THAT THEIR RIGHTS CANNOT BE IGNORED.
Celebrate with us on April 12th 2013!
