Girls and Women in the Penal System

Summary: The conference will continue the
Howard League's campaign to
improve the treatment of girls and
young women in the penal system
and will celebrate the fact that young
teenage girls are no longer in prison.
The conference will look at the position of 17 year old girls in
custody, alternatives to custody, 18-21 year old young women in
custody and in the community.

The conference will offer opportunities for debate and
networking. It will offer a chance for practitioners working in this
specialist field to share good practice, knowledge and
