"Ending corporal punishment of children"

Summary: During the 15th session of the UPR, a side event will be hosted by the Permanent Missions of Finland, Tunisia and Uruguay.

During the first cycle of the UPR and the early sessions of the second cycle, corporal punishment has been raised in the examination of many states, and more than 80 have accepted recommendations to prohibit it. Globally, 33 states have achieved prohibition in all settings of children’s lives including the home. A large majority of states - 117 - have banned school corporal punishment.
