This conference, the fifth in our series of regional conferences,
will take place in Amman, Jordan from 8-10 April 2001. It is being
organised jointly by the Coalition, the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy
and the UNICEF Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa
under the patronage of HM Queen Rania al-Abdullah. Around 100
Government and NGO representatives from across the region are
expected to attend. The Coalition has prepared a draft research
report on child soldiers in the region for consideration at the
conference - this will be published shortly afterwards. For further
