WithinĀ the framework of theĀ Master of Advanced Studies in Childrenās Rights (MCR), a two year post-graduate training programme on childrenās rights, organised conjointly by theĀ Institut UniversitaireĀ Kurt Bƶsch (IUKB), in Sion (Switzerland)Ā and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), we are acceptingĀ auditorsĀ to participate at one or several modules of the programme.
Each module of the MAS in Children's Rights considers a specific theme.
Those accessible to the auditors address the following subjects: (2 ā May 2013) Childhood studies and Childhood research methodology, (3 ā September 2013) Children's rights and international law, (4 ā December 2013) Child labour and education, (5 ā March 2014) Children in contact with the law, (6 ā June 2014) Children's rights in the context of health and in relation to migration.
The modules take place in Switzerland, alternately at the University of Fribourg and at IUKB in Sion/Bramois.Ā Supplementary information on the whole programme is also available on the website's programmeĀ www.iukb.ch/mcr.
TheĀ MCR Module 5Ā on the themeĀ āChildren in contact with the lawāĀ will be heldĀ at the University Institute Kurt Bƶsch, in Sion (Switzerland) fromĀ 3 to 7 March 2014Ā and will deal with juvenile justice matters.
Via lectures and discussion groups, an overview of the relevant international legal framework will be presented. Juvenile Justice reform programmes will be discussed, as well as recent trends in criminological research and practices of intervention that aim at reducing juvenile delinquency and improve justice. Attention will also be paid on āchild friendly justiceā in civil and penal proceeds, and issues on child access to justice and child hearing in judicial proceeding will be addressed.
In addition to the regular MCR students, a maximum of five auditors will be accepted to participate in this module.
The fees to attend the MCR ModuleĀ 5 as an auditor amount to 2.000 CHF (~ ā¬1ā650 ā US$ 2ā200) which does not include travel expenses, housingĀ and meals.Ā Applications are due before 14 February 2014.
