Children First: Meeting the Needs of Children and Young People Living with HIV

Summary: This training course is designed to help
participants understand the key issues facing
children and young people living with HIV.
Participants learn through a mix of
presentations, discussion and group exercises
and have the opportunity to consider how
issues raised impact on their own workplace
and practice.

Who should attend

Aimed at people who would benefit from an understanding of the key
issues for children and young people living with HIV, the course is
appropriate for practitioners and volunteers. Learning is applicable to a
range of settings eg health, voluntary organisations, and social services. A
basic understanding of HIV prior to the course would be beneficial to
participants.

Outcomes for participants

- Update on key issues, figures and legislation.
- Understand the specific issues that face children and young people.
- Increase skills and confidence to meet the needs of children and families
living with HIV.
- Identify issues that are of particular relevance to their own workplace.
