Children and Young People in a Changing World: A Holistic Approach

Summary: Agrigento, Sicily

The conference, under the sponsorship of the The International Union
of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences [IUAES], responds to a
growing international interest on issues of children and adolescents
evidenced by the increasing number of sessions and panels on these
topics at recent IUAES general meetings. The social effects and the
evolving social policies related to our new levels of economic and
political globalization as well as the rapid rise of new
biotechnologies are generating novel queries that beg for a careful
multidisciplinary reanalysis of what we know about children and
adolescents and of our current definitions, understandings and
approaches of the issues. Such reanalysis is critical to the
wellbeing of the new millennium's generations. Scholars, experts,
knowledgeable members of government and non-government organizations
and interested young people are all warmly invited to participate in
this conference.
