According an order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2009 is "the year of the child" in order to strengthen commitment towards children, create awareness among civil society and identify different perspectives.
"NUR" Children and Youth Public Union with support from the Council of State Support to NGO's under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will organise "A World Fit for Children" – The 1st Forum of Azerbaijani Children dedicated to the conclusion of the 2009 year of the child in Azerbaijan and the 20th anniversary of Children’s Rights Convention. The Forum will include 100 child participants, and, it is hoped, will attract society's attention to the problems children face. It will emphasise the importance and symbolism of the year of the child and will consider best practice, obstacles, existing problems and important matters relevant to the rights of children.
