Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation

Summary: The Berghof Center produced this
Handbook in response to the
contemporary challenges of violent
conflict and to recent developments
in the field of conflict transformation.
The aim of the Handbook is to give practitioners and scholars an
overview of the currently available approaches, methods,
techniques and theories of conflict transformation. In so doing,
the handbook documents and assesses the state of the art in
the field in addition to offering opportunities to reflect on and
discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches.

The authors would like to encourage the development of more
coherent and theoretically sound concepts to integrate the
complexities of the field, to address dilemmas and to facilitate
effective and efficient strategies of transformation.

The Handbook will ultimately have been successful if it provides
help to those who dedicate their energy, time and resources to
find peaceful solutions for very specific conflicts.
